Fun in the City

Madison continues to be lax in providing sufficient job opportunities for its citizens. I will be taking a test for a position as a library page next week, and applying for several other jobs tomorrow, time permitting.

My other plans for the day include stopping off at a thrift store or two in search for parts usable in several different machinations, as well as a stop at the hardware store for some fine grain sand paper and WD40.

Beyond that, I shall be working on a translation project for the day. I should hopefully finish that at some point next week, thus banking myself another $100.

Progress reports on gadgets and gizmos to continue each day that I find time to work on them. Something similar shall probably occur in regards to my employment search as well.

Until next time,
SCIENCE!

Glad you're keeping at it.
I know (from sad, hard experience...wasted 10 hrs last one day last week reading a stupid online comic) that you need to stay productive when you're out of work.

1) You may want to make a list of three things to accomplish each day and check them off as you do them.

2) Make sure you get up and out of the house each day so the Hermit Syndrome doesn't set in.

3) Check out your local bike co-op.(Yes I'm biased)
You can gain some skills(for free)and have interesting people to talk with, all while you build yourself some faster/more convenient transportation.

4) Is there a community college or somewhere where you can you can work on your mad-scientist math skills in pursuit of your idea of a masters degree?

5) Grab a new hobby or club that can give you more contacts. Some of those people will know of random job openings. Plus...hey! more friends!

Learn...Work...Play (wash rinse repeat)

I'm proud of you son.

(and yes...I know I should be taking more of my own advice...)

I could probably poke some Classes at MATC, though it's a bit of a ride to get out there. I may check to see if they have some online classes. I know they do a driving thing for foreign students, mebbe I'll go and pick up that skill.

Aside from that, my friend Lindsay's boy is finally getting himself started on a physics degree as well, so I may steal some of his books and stuff later.

Bike coop isn't a bad idea. I'll poke around with that once I get this translation project done.

Driving skills could definitely extend your job prospects (if you have a license a car may be arranged) though commuting thither and yon can be a pain...at least you could get your parking space there at the apartment.

Found a Co-op there, but it is in south Madison. Don't know if there's any more....

I can ask on bikeforums.net...
